Lady Chapel

The Lady Chapel was dedicated to the honour and glory of God under the Patronage ofthe Blessed Virgin Mary, December 14th, 1997. The construction of the chapel was made possible through the generosity of Kathleen Georgina Duncombe. The altar was given by Richard Weightman in memory of his wife Leonie; the Lectern was given by Lowell Mortimer; the candlesticks and cross were given by Nello Lambert; the dorsal for the reredos by Cypriana Fleischer; the organ was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hennessy; and the icons, "Mother and Child", "the Enunciation" and "the Last Supper" were given by William and Marguerite Tizard, Antonius Roberts, Mena Griffiths and Gweneth Munnings and Family. Chief Justice Vivian Blake and Mrs. Blake donated the Lladro statue, "Bleeding Heart" to the Cathedral, during Mr. Blake's tenure in the Bahamas. The construction of the Lady's Chapel was part of the restoration of the Cathedral undertaken by Dean Foster Pestaina.
